Flood Recovery

Flood Recovery
From August 11-14, close to two and half feet of rain fell on a localized area of Louisiana. The flooding was unprecedented. 140,000+ homes have been impacted, including close to 30 families in our own church.

Community Bible mobilized its congregation and those of our near-by affiliated churches in LA and MS. Collectively we helped 30 families remove the wetness from their property and began the drying out process and preparations for re-construction.

During September and October we partnered with Steppin’ Out Missions and churches from 10 states to send out work teams for re-construction to allow 9 families back into their homes. We also gutted and re-built the main building of Caring to Love crisis pregnancy center so that they could resume providing life-saving consultation services.

Flood Recovery
With the funds, so generously given, we have helped our “extended church family” with monies for expenses and purchased the materials and supplies required to re-build the interior of their homes.

After a dozen work days in November, December, and early January, we are continuing as best we can to help 15 more home owners achieve re-occupancy. And, help our Hispanic church congregation, Centro Biblico, rebuild an on-site parsonage so that they can have more room for relief operations and ministry. Centro Biblico was the Baton Rouge flood relief center for the Latino population for the three weeks following the flood. The Red Cross, FEMA, and a dozen other organizations provided food, counseling, clothing, baby supplies, and a medical clinic to over 500 people.

We now call again upon our friends and relatives, and our church associations across the nation to be a part of this next surge to help 15 more families return to normal. Your gifts for materials and supplies will allow us to purchase sheet rock and insulation for those without flood insurance and who need it the most.
Flood Recovery

With the occurrence of other weather disasters across the nation, it has been difficult to find skilled volunteer work teams who can come to Baton Rouge for a week. Qualified local and transient contractors are in short supply, and delivery of cabinets and fixtures continue to have long lead times.

If you or your church needs more information, contact our Flood Relief Ministry Coordinator, Howard Race.

If you would like to donate financially, we will use all of these donated funds for these flood recovery efforts. Your gifts are tax-deductible. Click on the PayPal Donate button below.

Pray that we will have wisdom and strength to not only bear the burdens of those in our congregation but also be a testimony and witness to the community around us.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:10
